A Change to Wishlist Plus: What You Need to Know

Wishlist Plus is retiring its permanent free plan. Here is what is changing, when it happens and what it means for your store.

From May 11th onwards, Wishlist Plus will no longer offer a permanent free plan for new merchants. Merchants who install Wishlist Plus after today get 30 full days free trial to every feature on the plan without restrictions. 

If you are currently on a free plan, here is exactly what that means for you and your store.

What Is NOT Changing

If you are currently on the free plan, you are welcome to stay on that plan as long as you don’t exceed the 500 actions quota. You will not lose your wishlist data. Your shoppers' saved items will remain intact. However, we really encourage you to find a more suitable plan.

What your options look like:

  • If you are ready to upgrade, the Starter plan gives you full access to the features that drive real results for your store. That includes guest email capture, automated price drop and restock alerts, Klaviyo and Mailchimp integration, multiple wishlists per shopper, and POS access if you sell in-store as well.
  • If you need more time to evaluate, that is exactly what the 30-day full-access trial is for. You can experience every feature on your plan before committing. 

What the 30-Day Trial Gives You

During the trial, every feature on your selected plan is active from day one

You’ll have enough time to complete theme setup, see their first wishlist activity from real shoppers, observe whether price drop and restock alerts are driving return visits, and connect your wishlist data to your email platform.

For Merchants Who Upgrade: What You Gain

If you are on the free plan today, here is what you are missing out on:

  • Guest email capture was not available to you. That means every shopper who browsed and saved an item without logging in was invisible to your marketing. You could not reach them when their saved item came back in stock or dropped in price. That is intent data that was sitting in your store, going nowhere.
  • Automated reminders were not available either. Without them, every shopper who saved a product and left was gone until they chose to come back on their own. With reminders active, you can reach those shoppers at exactly the right moment: when the price changes, when stock levels drop low, or simply when enough time has passed that a nudge is appropriate.
  • You couldn’t integrate with external tools like Klaviyo and Mailchimp, meaning your wishlist data didn’t flow directly into your existing email workflows. Shoppers who save items become a segment you can act on. That is a capability that changes what your email programme can do.

Why We Made This Decision

We spent a significant amount of time evaluating whether there was a version of the free plan we could sustain long-term and still serve you well. The honest answer is that we could not. 

A permanent free tier created a situation where the support quality we could offer every merchant (including you) was being stretched thin. We were not able to give the merchants who needed help the response times or hands-on attention that a product like this deserves.

The move to a trial model allows us to concentrate support resources where they are most needed. Merchants who are actively building on Wishlist Plus, on a paid plan, get a better experience. And merchants evaluating the product get a fair and complete window to decide, rather than a limited version that never really showed what the tool could do.

A 30-day trial with full feature access is a more honest evaluation than a permanent free plan with restricted functionality. You see the whole product. You see how your shoppers respond. You see the data. Then you decide.
