Increase repeat purchases with points, VIP tiers, referrals, and 30+ touchpoints

Joy Loyalty is a loyalty, rewards, and referrals platform for Shopify, built by Avada. Merchants use Joy to run points programs, VIP tiers, referral campaigns, and reward redemptions across every surface a shopper touches — the storefront widget, checkout, POS, and customer accounts. Joy is trusted by 10000+ Shopify merchants and rated 4.9★ on the Shopify App Store.
The Swym–Joy integration connects wishlist intent to loyalty rewards, in two ways:
Swym stays the source of truth Joy reads and displays wishlist data — it never stores a copy, never writes its own competing wishlist, and never changes Swym’s own page, button, or drawer. Works for guests and logged-in shoppers as Joy adds no login gate to the wishlist display.
The objective of the Swym–Joy integration is to let merchants act on wishlist intent with loyalty mechanics: rewarding the save itself, surfacing saved products at the moment a shopper is already engaged with their rewards, and shortening the path from saved to purchased. The integration has two independent tracks, and merchants can use either or both.
The first is a storefront display that requires no configuration at all — it runs entirely client-side in the shopper’s browser, reads the shopper’s saved items through Swym’s documented SDK methods, and renders them inside the Joy widget styled to the merchant’s own theme. This is a listen-only model by design: Joy never pushes wishlist state outbound, and every write goes through Swym’s own SDK rather than around it, so there is no sync lag, no reconciliation step, no duplicate entries, and no state for the two apps to disagree about. There is no server-to-server connection, no webhook, and no shared database — nothing leaves the browser.
The second track is loyalty rewards through Shopify Flow. Swym publishes an “Item Added to Wishlist” trigger, and Joy publishes Flow actions including Add point, Add point by variable, Adjust store credit, Reward coupon, and Assign to Tier. Connecting them lets a merchant reward wishlist activity automatically, with conditions such as product collection, price threshold, customer tag, or VIP tier in between.
Joy does not replace, hide, or restyle Swym’s wishlist page, button, or drawer — those keep working exactly as they do today. Joy does not import or store wishlist data.
When the Joy loyalty widget loads on the storefront, it checks for Swym’s SDK. If Swym is installed, Joy calls Swym’s documented fetch method, which returns the shopper’s saved items already enriched with product data, and renders them in the widget’s Wishlist tab with image, title, price, and link. Add-to-cart and remove actions taken inside the Joy widget call Swym’s own SDK methods, so Swym updates its state and repaints its UI exactly as if the shopper had acted in Swym directly. If Swym is not installed, the tab simply shows no Swym-backed list — there is no error state and nothing to configure.
For rewards, the merchant builds a workflow in Shopify Flow starting from Swym’s “Item Added to Wishlist” trigger, optionally adds their own conditions, and ends with Joy’s “Add point” action, setting the point value and the reason the customer will see. From then on, saving a product awards points automatically and the reason appears in the customer’s Joy rewards history. Merchants commonly use this to reward the first save of a season, to give a larger bonus when a saved product is later purchased, to encourage saves from a new-arrivals collection, or to let VIP-tier members earn double on every save.
No. Joy detects Swym automatically on the storefront, so there is no connection screen. The rewards workflow is built in Shopify Flow, which both apps already plug into.
No to both. Swym stays the single source of truth — Joy reads and displays Swym’s data and never stores its own copy or writes a competing wishlist. Swym’s own page, button, and drawer are untouched; Joy simply adds another place where the same list is visible.
Yes for the storefront display — Joy adds no login requirement. Earning points through Flow requires an identifiable customer, since loyalty points must attach to a customer record.
The storefront display works on standard plans of both apps. Rewarding points for wishlist activity uses Shopify Flow, which requires the Shopify, Advanced, or Plus plan, plus Swym Wishlist Plus on Starter or above.
Joy uses one wishlist provider at a time, chosen in a fixed priority order so behaviour is predictable rather than dependent on load timing. If Joy’s own wishlist app is installed it takes priority; otherwise Swym is used. Most merchants run a single wishlist app.
